ok everybody so i got sent this footage. it contained a graphic transition with its alpha channel following right after. i have done this before where i line up the two set my graphic layer to composite mode travel matte-luma and everything works perfectly. except this one time. everything seems the same except for one thing! the alpha channel is reversed! what i want to be transparent is white and what i want to be opaque is black!

predictably, when i perform my usual sequence of events to add an alpha channel to a straight rgb graphic i can see through the graphic! the part which should be opaque..

my question is… how can i reverse this alpha channel! the modify>reverse alpha> seems to do nothing.. neither does control click> item properties> format> check reverse alpha…

    help!!!

    thanks in advance

Your layers need to be swapped. It’s in the manual.

ok figured it out. use the invert filter found in the channels folder. for some reason the reverse alpha action don’t seem to do anything. anyways, this worked so hopefully it will help

Use travel matte luma as usual, apply the ‘invert’ filter to the alpha layer. Done.
