capture/sequence settings and workflow for Canon XH on HDV30f
For some time now I’ve been shooting green screen using a Canon XH-A1 and have managed to do a pretty good job with the key using Primatte Pro Keyer. I shoot in HDV30F(1080X1440). What I’m trying to achieve is a talking head against a greenscreen followed by some fairly heavy effects and compositing. I then downsize to about 427X230ish and output for the web. I capture in native size but I use Prores422 as I’m told its a better editing format for keying and compositing.
The first part of my workflow is I capture the and knock out the green. I export as an animation, millions colors etc and then bring it back into a new sequence for compositing. The sequence is set to ProRes422. So the first problem is the sequence settings don’t match the clip settings (animation) so I’m into render hell. I run onto other issues a export like aspect ratio etc but they all revolve around the same thing… settings. My problems are about rendinering and exporting, its taking too long.
I’m curious about the following
1) should I capture in ProRes, AIC or something else?
2) should my sequence settings match my capture settings?
3) using Canon equipment, should I capture in 60i or 30p?
4) should my QT video settings match my render control settingsAny advice would be helpful. I edit with a 2Xquad core 4gigs ram, no fancy hardware beyond that.
thanks
Rick
