    Hi everyone
    I have three problems:

1.- when I am working with a hdv(m2t) footage in after effects the program begun to run very slow how can I get this work better or faster?

2.- which is the best export method(quality)?

3.- how can I deinterlace my videos?

It’s a known issue with AE7 – it says so in the Installation doc. Not sure if 7.0.1 fixed it.

Don’t export unless it’s for an SWF or FLV. Instead use the render queue. Quicktime’s Animation CODEC at at quality setting of between 92-96% is pretty good in terms of visual quality and filesize.

Deinterlacing is done automatically by AE once you import your footage. To confirm this, select your footage item in the Project Pane. If it’s interlacee, you’ll see the description – Separating Lower or Upper, depending on the actual file you’re looking at.

There are better deinterlaces from 3rd party sources. But the one from AE is pretty ok. Check the COW’s tutorial section for at least two deinterlacing tutorials.

How come you shouldnt export? I just started using the rendering queue but sometimes Ill just export my footage with either sorenson 3 or no compression at all and it looks good. cant u see artifaction in the animation setting? especially if u are saving out to a size like 720×480?

You can speed up after effects by using proxys. CHeck out Andrew Kramer’s Proxy tutorial here at the cow

    very helpful. good luck!

There are many more options available within the Render Queue. QTs Animation CODEC at 92-96% is pretty clean.

We get too many folks running here with issues after discovering that they’ve been exporting instead of using the Render Queue.

    Cheers

Serge also did a tutorial on proxies. You can click on his head to find it.

You can also click on Andrew’s head to find his article here at the cow.
