Is there any reason to not use DVCPro 25 for delivery of Standard Definition Broadcast TV? The uplink house would rather have DVCPro 50 but there is a $60 cost for each 30 minute show (times 26)? Please advise.

Yes, there is, but only if you render your timeline and output as DVCPro50.

This is because DVCPro25 operates in 4:1:1 color space, while DVCPro50 operates in 4:2:2 color space.

So, what does this mean to you? If you render your timeline using the DVCPro50 codec, your graphics will rival DigiBeta quality, and they will not be subjected to the horrific degradation that happens with the DV25 and DVCPro25 codecs. Normal video on the same timeline will not be affected, only the graphics.

    Do you get it?

Why are the blanks so much more expensive compared to the miniDV blanks I use to record the show? Why are the $4 miniDV tapes good enough to transport the media but I need a tape worth 30 times more to deliver the show to the uplink house?
