    Hello Cow friends,

I posted yesterday about a different issue with this same project that i just picked up at the end of and this one i am totally confused about – i spoke with the previous editor and he also has no clue as to why this problem is occurring.

    The project is D1 – 720×486 – uncompressed 10-bit – lower fields

We have a Blackmagic HD extreme card and the issue I am having is that when i kick out a quicktime movie from FCP and playback in QT things are being stretched in the resulting 720×486 QT file.

I am being given assets from AE & Maya guys which seem correct:

Animation, 720×486, CCIR 601 lower fields

BUT when I add the assets to the D1 sequence and render out a full quality QT file the resulting file is stretched – i norder to correct this the previous editor and now I myself have been exporting with QT conversion making an Animation 640×480 qt file in order to correct the stretching issue.

What I dont get is if the assets i am getting from AE guys are 720×486 CCIR 601 and my sequence is the same then when i export why is there stretching in the file?

    thanks

    Lisa

    Where are you seeing stretching?

If you are seeing this in Quicktime Player, that is normal, as QT player does not know about D1 pixels.

    Hello

The stretching is most noticeable in the product shot at the end but honestly throughout the whole spot this issue can be seen.

i guess whats throwing me off is the fact that I am getting assets which match my sequence in every way but when i export the full res qt file its stretching things out. In the meantime i will just continue exporting with conversion in order to make it 640×480 and correct the issue – it just seems strange to me and I so desperately want to know why this is happenning.

thank you for the fast response

    best

    Lisa

Again…are you seeing the stretching in Quicktime Player or within FCP?
