Trouble Importing. HELP!
So here are my specs:
Mac 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
1 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
Leopard 10.5.6Final Cut Pro 6.0
Canon HV30
HDV24p
Comp. Out 1080i/480iHere is my problem. Im trying to import my footage that I shot on my Canon and I shot it on HDV24p. When I go into FC I tried to use the easy setup HDV – 1080p24 but it would fail because it said that device was not connected correctly or that its the wrong setup of blah blah blah you know the deal. I tried making a custom setup:
Sequence Setup: HDV 1080p24
Capture Preset: HDV
Device Control Preset: HDV Firewire (But really I’m using a standard Firewire cable, is that a problem?)
Video Playback: None
Audio Playback: DefaultNow when I select that as my custom setup it doesnt tell me anything, but when i go into log and capture it says:
Device is not connected or the capture preset is not setup correctly. You may still log offline clips.
This might also happen if you play DV footage in an HDV device.What am I doing wrong?? Ive double checked my camera and everything seems ok. Could it be the firewire cable?? Believe it or not I have imported footage before with the regular easy setup and it has worked fine. This just started happening now. Should I re-install FC?? Please help. This is urgent!!

I found this on another forum:
“Your HV30 is a “1080i HDV camera” if you have FCP set up to look for anything besides a HDV (1440 X 1080) 60i camera, it isn’t going to find it (because you don’t have one connected) Always capture the footage using the HDV quick setup, with DV and HDV you aren’t really “capturing” you are just transferring a DV data stream the resolution is set. Once captured, you can put the footage in any project setup you want and FCP will scale it for you, or use compressor to make low res proxys (and offline the HD footage) if you wish.”

Hi… Did you ever find a resolution to your problem? I’m having sort of the same issue, with basically the same setup as you. The footage in this case is HDV 1080 60i from a Canon XHA1 camera. I’ve always used the HV30 as my capture device and never had a problem until this week. I’ve tried to figure it out myself, and all the camera settings in the HV30 are as they should be. Would reseting the camera work? Any ideas on how to get past this would be appreciated.

Yea i actually figured it out. It was pretty easy. All I did was restart my computer and that was it. It was really weird, maybe cause I always have my computer turned on and I always put it to sleep, so I guess maybe turning it of and give it a couple of minutes maybe made it feel better.
