editing with M2T in FCP
Ok so I am somewhat new to this so please bear with me…
My brother got married in November and hired a videographer to film the wedding in HD. He only ordered the raw footage, in hopes that I could edit it for him.
I understand that FCP doesn’t support M2V (or so i read) and that it needs to be converted. I have tried both demuxing the footage (not exactly sure what that means but I did it anyway) and converting to AVI. When I convert or demux the footage, it finally opens in FCP. The problem is that the footage is EXTREMELY grainy. The same occurs when I open the footage in a quicktime player. I also tried an application called ClipWrap, but it won’t accept my M2T file. Can anyone help?
PS I don’t have info regarding what camera was used either! -

Is it m2v or m2t? You mention both.

If the files are from a Sony HDV camcorder, I’ve had success opening and converting them with Voltaic. It’s not a free program but it’s not expensive either-$30 or so if I remember right. Just Google it. It allows you to open the m2t files and convert then to Quicktime files and import those into Final Cut.
