lossless HD
I have some files that were basically converted from DPX to lossless HD files (Compressor – None). FCP plays about 2 seconds and then can’t play the file. However when I change the quicktime compressor in sequence settings to TIFF or Animation (also lossless, I believe…?), the clips play fine.
I’m using my internal SATA drive for this. Is it a throughput issue or is something else going on here? Also, these are basically not huge/long files. I’m having to overcut these files into a trailer. Does it really matter, if I’m able to edit in another lossless format? What is really changing in the quality of the quicktimes?
Thanks.
