I have a problem that just started 2 weeks ago. I edit a church service to send to a TV broadcast and do separate edits to go to 2 of our other venues. I capture in a new Sony HD DV machine and that is all fine. I add in scriptures and points and then print back to video. When I print back to video, the DV tape glitches bad at the place where the points and scriptures dissolve in and out when I play it back. I use a 1TB external so it is not an internal hard drive problem. I use a 24″ iMac with 500 gb hard drive and 2.4Ghz processor and 3 GB of ram. Any ideas ? I have to get this fixed right away.

Sounds like they aren’t fully rendered.

Go to your sequence > render and sequence > render all menus and put a check mark next to all of the options, especially ‘full’. Then hit option-r to render all.

Hope that helps, if not post back.

I thought I had already done that, but I will check again. Thanks for the input.

    Hi Brad!
IMHO I would steer clear of the print to video function. In earlier versions of FCP I have noticed glitches that did not appear before I “Printed to video”. Some examples would be flash frames, luminance shifts, and stuttering playback. One of our assistant editors once printed to video and it wrecked havoc on the entire edit. We had to restart the machine, and revert to an earlier auto-saved project.

If I am outputting a finished timeline with bars tone & a slate, rather than use “Print to video” I build the whole timeline and simply press play. I have not had any issues since.
