  Dropped frames during playback of freeze frame clips

  Hi all,

  I’ve recently begun to have playback issues whenever I play over freeze frame clips. I have a music bed underneath and it jitters every time the playhead gets to a freeze frame clip. This never used to happen to me with earlier versions of Final Cut. I’m up to date with v 6.0.5. My video hard drive still has plenty of space left on it. I have 4GB RAM on a quad-core Mac Pro. I’ve even tried exporting the clip as a still image (jpeg or qtif) and re-importing it into the timeline, but still the same problem persists. My playback frame rate is set to Dynamic and Unlimited RT. Any thoughts?

  What RAID are you using?

  How fast is it?

  What’s the total capacity of it vs. how much is left?

  What format are you editing in?

  Hi Walter,

  I’m working off of three different hard drives. Two are internal Serial ATAs and one is an external(Fantom G-Force MEGAdisk eSATA) connected via firewire 800. My project file lives on my Mac HD startup drive. Half of my media is on the external and half is on a dedicated video internal drive. The external capacity is 1 TB, and there’s 369.5 GB available. and the internal one is 250 GB capacity with 71.1 GB available. The internal drives are 7200 rpm. I’m editing in HDV 108024p.
