• Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy

  HDV problem

  Hello
  recently I bought a Canon HV30. So far I have just been using it as a pass through device between final cut and a dvd player. But yesterday I shot some HDV footage and tonight I tried to capture it. My version of final cut 6.0.5 first kept giving me an “unable to initialize deck” warning, then after I went in to the settings and tried to set every thing to HDV I would get a different error. What is the proper way to set final cut up to capture HDV from this camera and do I have to change it if it is set to 30p?

  If the camera was used as a pass-through device it was probably set to output DV. It probably still is set to iLink or DV out or whatever the manual calls it. Make sure the material you shot, matches the output setting, as well as the capture and sequence settings in FCP.

  As Tom already mentioned, it’s likely that your settings are mismatched between the camera and Final Cut Pro.

  If everything is set correctly, but you’re still having issues, then a simple reboot may be the solution.

  I have a different Canon camera, but it’s manual is very specific about what settings need to be for capture. My guess is you should check there first.
