  Import P2 Files to log and transfer problem

  IS IT POSSIBLE TO LOSE PART OF A FILE WHEN IMPORTING TO FCP?
  I have been importing files a/v from p2 files into fcp, than imported the qts into avid express. When I watch the fiels in log and transfer, they match up exactly with the fiels in avid. However, I am simply missing some interview bites. Do you know if its possible that some parts of the clip could have gotten left out on import into FCP LOG AND TRANSFER?

  If you didn’t select it, yes. If you didn’t have all the cards mounted and a clip spanned from one card to the other…yes.

  Go back to the card and open L&T. Can you find the clips this way?

  I am taking the files off a drive, where they were copied from the P2 cards. This is all I have. I drag the Contents folder of the files into “Log and transfer” and then export it to qt. We do not have the actual P2 cards.

  I figured…always offload the cards. So the card dumps…lookin in there…mounting those back into the L&T window, do you not see the footage? Are there any numbers missing? The clip names start with sequential numbers, 001GHT, 002NU3, 003YUX…and so on.

  If #4 is missing, in a seq 1-10, does that mean clip 4 is missing?
  This might be the problem.

  Yup. It also might mean that it was deleted in the field…I sometimes do that. But if the interview byte you feel is missing seems like it should be after clip 3 and before clip 5…that that might be the one that is missing.

  This happens when people copy the footage from the card to the hard drive via the Finder…or just on the desktop level. Some data might not come across. That is why it is wise to have offloading software that verifies the data is called for. Shotput P2 by http://www.imagineproducts.com is the best for this…tell that to your field people.
