  24p Help

  Okay…
  A project that I’m working with was shot at 24 progressive frames per second.

  The footage was digitized through a MINI DV/DVC PRO tape adapter through a tape deck.

  The footage was captured through FCP at 23.98, and it looks terrible when played back on a NTSC monitor. While scrubbing through the timeline, every fourth frame looks great, but the frames in between are heavily interlaced, and it looks horrible.

  Can someone please provide me with information regarding what I must do in order to obtain the highest possible image quality?

  In your capture presets, see if DV NTSC 48KHz Advanced 2:3:3:2 Pulldown works better for you.

  Okay…
  You can’t record 24p to SD tape. In order to capture and edit with 23.98 media, you would have needed to shoot 24pA. If you shot regular 24p (that’s with Normal 3:2 pulldown) you need to capture @ 29.97 and remove the pulldown after capture. If you shot 24pA, then see what Robert J. Grauert, Jr. says.
