    hey all…

not sure if this is the best forum to post this, but…i have years worth of dbeta tapes of commercials i’ve produced over the past 10 years and my digital beta deck needs between $3k and $5k worth of parts and labor to have it fixed. i am worried about fixing this one card now just to wait for the next thing to go…

maybe it’s time for a new deck/new format? while my dbeta is a player/recorder i think i’m okay with a player only. my spots are finished in SD, but, the ability to digitize HD might be cool too…

thoughts and suggestions are greatly appreciated!

    thanks
    mike

Well, DVCPRO 50 is comparable to digibeta. And there are the AJ-1400 and 1800 decks out there that can play back that format, as well as DVCPRO HD 720p and 1080i. Not sure if they can record DVCPRO 50 as well, but they can play it.

Also, DVCPRO 50 isn’t a widely accepted format like Digibeta. DVCPRO HD as well on the HD side. HD deliverables are typically HDCAM or HDCAM Sr or D5. And SD is still Digibeta.

    Probably worth fixing anyways.

Digibeta decks hold the value pretty well.

Take it to a post house or dub facility that has both decks and have them dub them with matching code.

Why on earth would you do this? It will be VERY expensive and I see very little gain to doing this.
