OK i have a question about render files. I am looking to regain space on my drives. can I throw away render files to get this space and if iI need to get the project back in order just rerender. Are these like precomputes in the avid world. Any help would be great. Thanks.

A cut is a cut & a dissolve is a disolve, and not just anybody with a system is a pro.

Yep…you can do that. Or you can use the RENDER MANAGER to trash them as well. If you did it on the finder, FCP would prompt you that files are missing (unlike Avid) and all you have to do is click FORGET and then re-render.

Mind you that unlike Avid, FCP doesn’t keep unreferenced render files typically. It tosses them as soon as you make a change. Undo the change and it reinstates them. But quit and then they are gone. Some residual render files hang on, but that is rare.
