Chroma Keying while importing with FCP?
Our school news station wants to do green screen, and we have the green screen and we know how to do the chroma keying once the footage is imported, but it just takes way too long and we don’t have enough time (and the teacher just doesn’t want to take all that time every single day to do it)
Is there an easier way to do this in FCP, while it’s importing from the camera? (We import it live, but we also film it in case the computer freezes or something) Or would we have to find a different program (We also have Premiere Pro, could we do it in that?)?

Only if you have a video card such as a Kona card or another realtime hardware device.

You could try Conduit which is a realtime keyer (actually a node based compositing plugin) for FCP and also comes with Conduit live which enables you to do live keying while capturing from firewire. (But not while capturing directly into FCP…)

John, thanks for the link, cool product.
The description seems to imply the keying is performed live during capture so all background sources must be rolled live. That is, the VeeScope Keyer does not appear to capture an Animation codec file that can be imported into a project and used as foreground.bogiesan
