• Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy

  No Sound after importing MPEGs in Final Cut Pro???

  Hi,

  I am trying to edit a few .mpg files that I shot with a regular digital camera, and I’ve imported all the clips into FCP 5, but for some reason none of them have any audio… The files work fine in Quicktime, but not in FCP. Can someone please help me?

  MPG is not an editing format in FCP. Use Streamclip from https://www.squared5.com/ (freeware) to transcode to a QT file with a codec such as DV NTSC that FCP likes and all will be well.

  Hey David,
  Thanks for getting back to me so quick!
  I did what you said and I got MPEG Streamclip, and I did a test conversion to DV (is that right?), and I ran into one problem. The video seems to have a slight lag every three seconds or so, and I am wondering if I need to do the conversion with very specific settings… would you happen to know the exact settings for this?

  No, not to DV. Export to Quicktime, then select DV as the compressor.

  I was having the same problem. Could get sound with some conversions but had to render clips. This fixed everything!! Thanks so much!

  It seems like it solved the problem. Now I can now view the movie files with Quicktime and the files seems to work with FCP too.

  Hi
  I converted .mpg video into .mov format and then imported the .mov file into FCE. The first time i did this everything went well enough – got video and audio – but the second time i have successfully imported the video file but i don’t have sound. When i play the file from where it is saved it opens with Quicktime and i have both audio and video. it is only when i import to FCE that the audio seems to get left behind.

  I have gone to View/Video Out and Canvas Playback is checked.

  Does anyone have any ideas?
