  • AVCHD Clips disappear using log and transfer?

Posted by Rachel Williams on January 5, 2009 at 6:50 pm

I am working on an oral history project with my university and we are currently trying to load tons of footage from India onto our mac. I’m the most knowledgeable member of the team as far as FCP is concerned, so we are in trouble.

We saved our stuff as mirror images of our sony HD’s hard drive on externals and are using log and transfer. It worked fine at first but lately clips disappear after they appear to load in the queue. The LandT window shows that they are loading, then erases them from the queue with no ! or anything only they never appear in the project index.

After 3 or 4 tries, they usually load but at this rate we won’t get to editing until 2015.

    Thanks for any advice.

I’ve had this problem and attributed it to using a PC-formatted drive (my guess being that the resulting capture files exceeded the 2GB limit for NTFS). What is the formatting for your media drive?

Also, for the sake of troubleshooting, try capturing shorter files – :30, :60. 2:00, etc… to see if this is a limitation for you.
