    Hi fellow Creatives,

I am running FCP6 on my computer and have been trying to print to video. The clip plays back as expected and the video deck also starts recording but when I’m done and want to play it back, there are actually no images recorded. Am I doing something wrong or has anyone else experienced the same problem? How did you solve it?

What format of tape in and out? What sequence settings?

    Have a wonderful day.

    Hi Chris,

I imported a friend’s music video in a .avi format and placed it on the timeline. Tape format is DV PAL in and out…I think. It is actually my first time doing this so it’s obvious I’m getting something wrong. Are there any specific pointers you could give me to get it right?

    Sharpe,

To go back to that deck you must match your sequence settings to PALDV. FireWire PAL must show up in your video display control list when the deck is connected.

Print to tape can be problematic, have you tried playing back through the timeline?

    Have a wonderful day.

    Chris,

I can see this is problematic indeed. Have tried recording straight off the timeline and still nothing. GAH!! I am thinking tho’ that there might be something a tad off with my playback deck. it is one of those £2000 Sonys without a display screen. What I’m finding out now is that when I press the menu button, something should be displayed on a screen somewhere. But where and on what screen it should be displayed is the $64,000… Well, that and how do I get it to do it’s display thingi so I can mess with the settings inside the menu?

I appreciate you help kind sir.

    Happy New Year.

    Sharpe

    Sharpe,

Send the composit video out or S video to a TV or monitor, you should see your menu there. Set the EE to on, or the DV to in/out or both, don’t know your deck. Then connect to computer BEFORE you launch FCP.

    Have a wonderful day.

    Hey Chris,

I think I can safely say “Houston we have a problem…NOT!!!” I finally figured it out.

    Thank you so much.

    Happy New Year.
