    Nope, won’t help. (won’t hurt though, and sure makes multitasking work better)

    ONLY way to speed up renders and compression is faster CPU’s. In the case of Compressor, you can set up a render farm which helps speed it up (look in Compressor’s Help menu for how to do this with QMaster), but with FCP, only way to really speed it up is buy a faster computer.

    If you are using a lot of FxPlug effects then a beefy graphics card (GPU) will help.

    Yea, I figured I didn’t have many options since FCP is processor based. Doesn’t RAM help with Motion though? I don’t remember where or when, but I sort of remember someone saying, “Motion is RAM intensive.”

    Motion is RAM intensive for working within the app, but rendering speed it is GPU-bound. Looks like the ATI Radeon HD 3870 is the current king of the hill for Motion:

    I think it may be a certain Hardware acceleration.
    In my G5 I had a BlackMagic card installed and in “Effects Handing” it shows 8/10b Unc effects “Handed by BlackMagic”.
    I really don’t know if that works or not.
