Exporting Windows Media file trouble
Hello,
When trying to export a two minute sequence from FCP to a Windows Media file, my exported file has an unrendered icon at the beginning and then is followed by only 30 seconds of the 2 minute sequence. How do I eliminate the “unredered” image at the beginning of the sequence, and how do I manage to export the entire sequence? (I have already tried setting in and out points….)

The reason you are only getting :30 of your export is that you do not have the full version of the Flip 4 Mac WMV export component. In the free version you can play WMV files in Quicktime, but the export is limited to a :30 demo. Go here to purchase the full version
https://www.telestream.net/flip4mac-wmv/overview.htmAs for the unrendered portion of your export, try to force rendering the clip before you export by selecting the clip and going to Sequence > Render Selection. There choose the option that corresponds to the color in the timeline over your clip (eg bright green equals preview, etc.)

This is a typical example of software engineers that do not use their own product in a real world environment. It has always baffled me as to why one would want to export a still frame that says ‘unrendered’. Even crappy programs like Premiere at least render the necessary portions prior to creating the final output. I guess its just a case of these software engineers in a hurry to get to their Ferrari’s for the drive home.
