  27 hours to render???

  Hello – first time posting here so please bare with me.

  I just got Final Cut Pro 6.0 the other day after using it constantly in school. However, my first experience so far has been a disaster. I imported 20 minutes of footage (didn’t render it immediately) in order to crop it a little bit, scale it up, and move the center, it takes 27 hours (or at least that’s what it’s telling me.) Oh scratch that – it just increased to 31 hours!

  I also made sure my sequence settings and clip settings are the same.

  Is it supposed to take this long? Someone help! I did watch Walter Biscardi’s Secrets for Real-time Sequences, so please don’t refer me to that unless you truly think I forgot something.

  Can’t edit MPEG-4 in Final Cut. Convert it to an editing codec (use QT Pro or Compressor) then bring it in FCP.

  Where did your footage come from?
  How long of a video is it?

  The mpeg4 issue was the one that did it. Thanks for the help!

  In response to your question Dave, it’s footage taken from a screen recorder… needed it for a film to show what was on the screen. I had 20 minutes recorded of it even though I only needed about a minute….
