    It’s not useless. Keep in mind that more things then FCP will use ram on the computer. The OS and every other app running will all use some ram, so if you only have 2GB then FCP cannot use all of that 2GB because the OS and other apps will be using some of it.

    There are no “technical solutions” to your “artistic problems”.
    Don’t let technology get in the way of your creativity!

    With regards to RAM, what MacPro do you have?

    Is it the Quad core or Octo core? I ask because the Quad core really needs at least 4 gig of RAM to perform at its maximum potential and the Octo core needs at least 8 gig for max performance. This is according to Apple and all of us who have these specs. Its true!

    Ive never heard of a 2 gig ram limitation. I’d say 2 gigs is the very minimum. It depends (among other things) on how big your projects are. For a one hour show you probably want 4.

    Use Activity Monitor (in utilities) to see how much memory is being used while your project is running. If you have very little free memory then you are probably running slowly and crashing from time to time. If you are showing a gig or so free you are probably ok. More memory is not a bad thing.
