Thump effect?
Hey guys,
I was watching a video the other day and saw that “thump” like effect that sorta looks like a quick zoom in and out, but I was wondering if that was all it is, or if there is something more going on. I’m not at my comp. so can’t check it out, but i looked online a bit and couldn’t find any info.

That would be the Cross Zoom effect in Effects>>3D Simulation>>Cross Zoom

To me, it looks like nothing more than a simple scale effect. Just keyframe the video a little larger and then keyframe it back to it’s original size…or am I missing something. It is early yet. 🙂

This transition effect will work as a ‘thump’ too. I needed a shot to look like a flying pizza box hit the camera with a ‘thump’. I discovered that if I simply bladed the shot where I wanted the thump, and used the “G Free” transition-G Earthquake at the cut, it was perfect. Give it a shot if you havent already solved it.

Hey all,
thanks so much for the help. I tried a few of the suggestions with positive results. Using G-free earthquake being the easiest, but the cross zoom worked well also, as did the scaling. Thanks a bunch!
