Hi…I’m cutting off-line of a future film on Fcp, which will be online most likely on a DS Nitris or on a Smoke system. The thing is, we are doing some speed changes on some clips. When I export an EDL for online, will those speed changes be clear on EDL, or are things gonna get messed up in Online process as I’m afraid of. Any similar experiences out there? Thanks for your help…

Most likely they will get screwed up. The best thing I have found is to make a spearate sequence with the untreated original footage in them. That way the clips that need speed changes can get captured at their full length and manipluated with whatever online system you choose.

    Make sense?

Always a good idea to export a self-contained movie of your speed changes.

Not when you have to produce an EDL. The self contained movie won’t reference any reel number or original timecode from the source, making the online troublesome.

Exactly, that’s why it’s best to just put the unspeed changed clips in their own timeline, that way they can be reapctured by whatever online system you use.
