  • distorted layer on export

    Hi everyone,
I am finishing a simple composite which consists of one video layer with one graphic overlay on top of it. The overlay is 30% transparent and, when rotated, makes a basic little spinning pinwheel color effect on the video layer below it. The video layer is 1440×1080 and the graphic is 1440×1440.

When I export the video, the graphic layer is squashed to meet the 1440×1080 frame size, distorting the round pinwheel into a sort of wobbly, oblong shape. I realize that there is a problem with the graphic layer being 1440×1440, but all attempts I have made to “tell” Compressor to crop it rather than distort it do not work. Anybody have any idea how to make this work?

As an added frustrating bonus, when I export the video with letterbox, the graphic displays properly.

The distorted video is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pve3QvA-qZo

and the letterboxed, non-distorted version is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hBdT6R7Ys-8

Thank you in advance, anyone who can help!

Export Quicktime Movie, self contained, then bring that vid into compressor.

As the owner of the thread, you can just click on the little tick mark to show that the question has been answered correctly. I guess it helps people search for solutions more easily. Cool idea!
