NTSC, FCP, iDVD and PAL DVD player?? Help!!!
I have a huge and urgent problem.
My camera is a Canon XH A1 NTSC. I have shot a short film in 16:9 HDV, imported it to Final Cut Pro, edited it, saved it as a Quiktime .mov, burned it on a DVD-R in iDVD but when played in my DVD player (Im from europe so its PAL) its like a couple of frames are missing every second. It “stops” constantly.
Its not extremely noticable or impossible to watch but its definitly there and I have to solve it – fast!
Can anybody please help me?!

https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/20/858786If you wish to use iDVD you have to use Compressor to make a PAL DV .mov (not a PAL MPEG-2 which you would need for DVD Studio Pro).
Then you change iDVD to PAl mode to make your DVD.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly!
I am trying to use Compressor right now but it wont play. Nothing happens when I click File > New Batch and nothing happens when i right click on the .mov file on the desktop and opens it in Compressor.
A strange thing: it seems (when i right click) i have two different Compressor 3.0 and 3.0.4 but 3.0.4 asks me to type my serial number and register… hmm
Theres no way I can use Cinematools?

Okay i got the .mov file opened in Compressor 3.0.4.
Where do I go now? The tuturial is for 2.0

FCS comes with an excellent manual – have a good look.
NTSC material is 30 fps (or thereabouts) and PAL material is 25 fps. If you want to make a PAL DVD from NTSC footage the footage will need to be converted to avoid these frame issues. Cinema Tools is NOT a standards converter, nor is compressor. Try Natress’ excellent standards conversion filter or something similar.
