If I want to export an Avid codec from FCP, and intending it for broadcast in Spain (PAL), which PAL setting do I choose? DV25 PAL 411 (and YES, THAT IS A SETTING AVAILABLE), DV25 PAL420, or PAL DV50?
more info: they are using Avid Unity with Media Composer; all source footage is NTSC.

If its for broadcast, is having your NTSC master tape hardware converted to PAL an option?

It would be quickest and easiest. All of those formats that you’re listing would cause a quality hit (not to mention their suspect compatibility with Avid).

    Hi Scott,
In NTSC Land DV and DVCPro25 are 411. In PAL Land DV is 420 and DVCPro25 is 411
So the AVID DV25 PAL 411 is basically PAL DVCPro 25. No much difference among them.
PAL DV50 is basically the same than DVCPro50, 422.Better quality than the others.
If you go to transcode NTSC to PAL use the last one.
    cheers,
    rafael

having the master tape converted to PAL is not an option unfortunately due to the weekly turnaround and cost of having it done.
