    Hi,
I’m trying to work with footage shot on a consumer Canon camera in the AVCHD format. I’m on a client’s machine which is a powerful, if a bit dated, PowerPC G5quad 2.5gig with tons of RAM (8gigs).

Apple’s website says that there is absolutely no AVCHD support on PowerPC systems – only on Intel. Am I hosed? is there a workaround?

    Thank in advance.

FCP imports using LOG AND TRANSFER…and yes, you need an Intel to handle this format in that interface. Another application that transcodes is Toast 9…but I am not sure if you need an Intel for that method.

Don’t you love how NEW camera systems lately are making perfectly fine edit systems obsolete?
