    Hi all.
I’ve been given some MXF files that were made by a Sony XDCAM camera.
How do i import those files to FCP? I read a bit and i concluded to Calibrated.
Is there another way, maybe a freeware utility?

    Thanx in advance.

Or even a better utility for that job.

You need to download from Sony’s website the XD Transfer application.

Hi Alan and thanx for the answer.

i tried the XDCAM Transfer 2.0.8 (latest version) but now i have another more confusing problem.
Some files can be read and some others cannot.
The camera is the PDW-510P. Unfortunately i do not have access to it, otherwise i could try importing from it.

    Do you have any ideas?

    Thanx.

    Hi Bjoern,
    Thanx for the answer.
I installed the 2.5.1 version but it pops an error that says that it supports offline database version 7 but this is version 9. Got any ideas?

    I had installed the

which is the 2.7.0 and supports PDW-510P.

I guess that i have made a mess. can u please help me get out of it?

I am not sure what’s wrong with your setup. I never got such a database message, usually you just add those MXF files and convert them to MOV.

Maybe you give our MXF Import solution a try, a free demo is available: https://mxf4mac.com/mxf4qtimport

It can access the native D10/IMX MXF files (including audio) from XDCAM without converting them to MOV.

    Thanx Bjoern,
I downloaded the demo, installed it, restart, but i cannot see how to import the mxf in fcp through your plugin.

What is the procedure? Should it be able to import it directly, cause if yes, its not working again.

Yes, just drag and drop to FCP. I guess you need to de-install previous software you tried as there might be some conflicts.

Please contact us directly through our website. We will also give you a call to help you solving the problem.

One last thing i noticed Bjoerk,
i right clicked on an MXF and selected to open with MXF4QT.app and it pops the error:

The movie could not be opened.
    Mac OS error -3208.

    Got any ideas on that?

    Thank you.
