I imagine that FCP can export HD MPEG 2 IPB files suitable for Blu-Ray authoring, but I’m guessing that these files are in a Quicktime wrapper. In addition to using these files to author Blu-Ray disks in Audition (Win) (which will accept Quicktime files), I would like to be able to drop these files on a Premiere (Win) timeline for editing. If they are .MPG (or the other common mpeg2 suffixes), Premiere will probably play them without rendering. If they are in a Quicktime wrapper, I would have to render to achieve realtime playback – which I would like to avoid.

So my question is: Can FCP export HD MPEG2 IPB files with an .MPG file extension?

Compressor will make .mv2 files. Change your self the extension a send them to PP. I think will work.

Thanks, Rafael. Of course I meant Encore, not Audition. Adobdislexia.
