Hi guys, I’ve been editing with my JVC GY HD110 via FCP 6.0. However recently I shot some footage 720p/24 (always) and either my camera firewire port isn’t working (works for DV) or sometehing is wrong with FCP. I have reinstalled FCP and tried most of the codecs. Apple sees the camera but I can’t edit. iMovie used to see the camera and now it doesn’t. Is it possible for the DV firewire to work and not the HDV? I think not. I saw a post about Quicktime 7.5 so I plan to dump it and see what happens.

Thank you to anyone in advance that answers this nightmare.

    Hi There,
I am not 100% sure of the issue you are seeing, it sounds like you might still have control of the camera via the Firewire port but please describe more of what is going on…
Do you have any extra traffic on the firewire bus. AJA IO (IO HD), external hard-drives, MBox or other audio interface. These are all things that can choke up the bus and might have changed since the last time you used the camera successfully.

“Apple sees the camera but I can’t edit. iMovie used to see the camera and now it doesn’t.”

By can’t edit you mean can’t capture? Are you able to ingest the footage by capturing it in?

    Hi Keefe,

Thank you for your response it’s truly apprciated. I’ve been capturing HDV footage via my JVC HD110 720p/24 into FCP 6 with no problems. I do have two Lacie external firewire drives hooked up. If I plug the JVC into the Lacie and then my laptop the drive well die and then come back to my desktop. I think my system did update as I do have QT 7.5. As of this moment I’m trying to revert back to QT 7.5 or even earlier.

I have only the mac laptop and two external firewire Lacie drives. I do very well with HDV and FCP 6.0 until two weeks ago.

Thank you again Keefe (very cool name)
