  • What is the best way create frame blending still images

Alright I have a After effects compisition that is comprised of a few hundred frames in a photoshop sequence… the sequence was editied at every other frame… when I do a time stretch for 200% it fits perfect…

Is there a method that would help ease the time stretch and give the illusion of the missing frames

You could try the Timewarp effect in AE 7.

There’s also Twixtor. Gotta buy it, though.

Yeah I tried that first but got no sucsess… until just now I tried again and rendered it… I guess the ram preview doesn’t display the frame blending, I’m new to after Effects

    Thanks

You have to enable frame blending for the layer. There are 2 options: frame-mix and pixel motion. The first is probably better for fast changes as the second tries to work by using vectors and interpolating positions of pixels over the missing frames (it can result in trippy liquified acid trip effects on fast footage), timewarp does a better job with pixel motion.

Then you also need to enable frame blending for the comp, just like motion blur it won’t appear in your comp unless you say you want to see it (motion blur and frame blending can slow down rendering quite a bit). It’s between the motion blur and shy buttons at the top of your timeline for future reference.
