    Hello everyone,
I have been searching the forums now for about a week and I have learned a lot about monitoring. However I have not found an answer to my question yet so at the risk of possibly posting a redundant post I will ask my question.

I am currently monitoring SD video through a 14″ Sony higher end but consumer grade CRT TV. I am going out over firewire into a Canopus ADVC-100 and then out to the TV video RCA cables. I can monitor sound through the TV as well if needed.

I need to find a way to monitor my HD as well and I have read about the many choices of output cards you can buy for a Macpro but I wanted to find out what the cheapest but still decent way to monitor HD from Final Cut Pro. I read an article by Bob Zelin a few months back about a cheap way to monitor HD to a Dell 2407 and I have to find that article again. But if I recall he said that was not the best for SD monitoring.

So I need to find out if I should use 2 external monitors, 1 for SD, 1 for HD. Or if I would be better served by using one monitor for both?

My main business is web video BUT I have been doing more out to DVD and I am starting to utilize more and more color correction and it looks like grading maybe in the distant future for me. I am a single man business so cost is on my mind but I don’t mind paying for a good solution.

If any out there could give me some sound real world advice I would be grateful.

Many thanks to you all for these great posts, I have learned a great deal.

    Cheers,
    Jason
