I didn’t know exactly where to ask this question. So I am asking all you editors.

I have created a file on my FCP machine (Mac Pro Quad 2.5) and I would like to turn my MOV file to a WMV File. (For my clients) The convert to WMV through FCP doesn’t work correctly … and hasn’t after buying just about all the plug-ins. So that idea, to me, is out the window.

Does anyone know of any great software that does this conversion cleanly? Cost is not an issue and nothing free please. Discreet Cleaner 6 use to be great, but I found out that particular software is discontinued.

Any Suggestions are welcome. Thank you in advance.

I use a couple of methods..1st. flip4mac. However, there are occasions where I needed additional information in the WMV. I have had to export an uncompressed QT Mov. Take that to my windows box and export the WMV on that platform.

    Hi Raymond,
Which software have you being using?
Most of the people use Flip4Mac (https://www.flip4mac.com/wmv.htm).
Last Cleaner versions used to compress only to WMV-7. Flip4Mac compress to WMV-9.

What Ed’s points is the best solution, if you have a PC near by you.
Now you can even bring your Proress files to PC.

If cost is not an issue, get Episode Pro. Made by the same people who make Flip4Mac. Great compression tool, does everything.

    Have a wonderful day.

    Thanks alot everyone …

I have used the Flip4Mac but … for some reason it hasn’t done anything for me … I may have the wrong software from them.

I haven’t heard of Episode Pro, So I will look into that. Thanks.

There is actually a new Cleaner 6.5 from AutoDesk that does convert the files … but the trial I downloaded to see if it works doesn’t let me try a WMV 9 file. Err…

As for a windows computer … we don’t have a windows computer in our studio that is capable of converting software over. We are mac guys really. The windows computers we use are bare bones for all of our paperwork and filing of client costs.

Back to Episode Pro, is there a trial on their site for me to see? … maybe I should look …

Thanks again. If there are any other suggestions that would be great. All of your suggestion are fully thankful
