I apologize if I’m asking in the wrong forum…

I have a BetacamSP deck which I need to have FC Studio control with my RS-422 cable through my MAC for digitizing. Can someone tell me the type of controller card I need to install in the MAC for the RS-422 to plug in to?

I have all the video connections and converter box to firewire working. Just need to read time code and control the deck.

    Thank you!

    Wherever I am…I’m lost!

I’d recommend an AJA-IO. I don’t believe that your seperate firewire and serial method would work in FCP.

I use a Keyspan USB adapter for deck control

    You better believe. It works.

Well, you learn something new everyday… But that seems to me like a lot of hoops to jump thru just to turn Betacam into DV.

An IO gives you deck control, component ins, and your can digitize as DV, DV50, Uncompressed, whatever…

But, I’m glad you other cows were able to provide what the OP was looking for.

Hi Daryl, how do you have your Keyspan USA28XG setup?

I’m trying to install one on a G5 Quad FCP 6.0.4 system, and cannot get it to communicate with a PVW-2800, DSR-1600, or DSR-45. I have followed all installation instructions, used newest v2.5 driver, confirmed ports in the Keyspan Serial Assistant application, and spent 40 minutes on the phone with Keyspan tech support personnel who had never heard of Final Cut Pro (I had to spell it). Their bottom line was basically “it’s not us, it’s them”, suggesting I contact the software manufacturer for support, “if they are still in business.”

    Thanks for any suggestions,
    tim
