  • Sony HVR-M1OU deck and DVCPRO HD question.

Posted by Brandon Gosnell on September 25, 2008 at 12:48 am

    Hi,

So I’m trying to capture some DVCPRO HD footage into FCP that was shot on a VariCam and the deck I have available is the Sony HVR-M10U. My question is, will my tapes be compatible with this deck?

    Thanks!

‘Fraid not. DVCProHD and HDV are totally different tape formats.

    even if it accepts DVCAM?

I’m not even so worried about it being captured in HD, it’s going to ultimately be converted to SD anyway, I just need to get it captured somehow without paying a ton of money for a company to do it.

Do you a VAR who will let you “demo” a Panasonic deck? Call around. We all need favors from time to time, and free deck usage is not that hard to come by.

Just an idea… By the way, the reason that the Sony HVR-M10U can read DVCAM is because DVCAM is a Sony product. Not being a smarta.. but just letting you know why.
