Ref Movie opening issues
It is taking about 30-40 minutes to open a project that has Ref Movies that link to smaller QT files that were captured via a Firestore (as QT not P2). These RM are now part of multiclip sequences.
When I open the project I get FCP – Search for movie data file in “,,,,” it stays up for a few seconds and then moves on. When the project finally opens everything is fine.
I know where I probably screwed up, I did some housekeeping and renamed the folders the original files where in or put them in another folder so the path is probably messed up. I should know not to clean, it always gets me in the end. (at least that is what I tell my office to explain the office of my editing suite)
So I’m think FCP is finding all these movie files but it is not remembering where they are for the next time. Is there any solution to this. The project is near completion so I need a pretty safe solution. I have tried different saved copies of the project and all are the same.

Reimport the ref movies?

Thanks Jeremy, you got me thinking about the file, in the end all I needed to do is open up the ref movie in QT Player. It took them a while to open up but once they did the linking come back and now the project opens as excepted.

To start I would save those Reff movies as Self-contained. You don’t know if tomorrow FC will be able to open them.
