Final Cut Express/Chroma Keying/Alpha Channel
I am hoping someone can help me with this. I have been editing on Final Cut Pro for a while but have FC Express at home. I have been contracted to do some work for a friend who owns a software company. Let me set up the situation and then I will ask my 2 questions. What they are doing is taking some Green Screen footage and converting to Flash files to key over websites. So I am keying out the green screen and needing to export the file with an Alpha Channel. I seem to be able to get a pretty clean key, but still have some pixelation around the edges during movement(some of the footage is SD DVCAM so that maybe impossible to get rid of completely). My 2 questions are these: 1). Is there anyway to smooth the edges with express? I have used the Matte Choker and Color Smoother along with the chroma key. That has helped some but still not where the client would like it. Question 2). Does FC Express have a codec that exports an alpha channel? The alpha channel is vital to what they are doing. Sorry this is so long but I feel I need to explain what I was doing. I appreciate any help I can get with this. Thanks

1. Did you softening the edges of the matte?
2. Do not render the material, or dump the render file so it’s unrendered and export using Animation will colors set to millions+, just like FCP.
