  • HDV Footage becomes 720X480 after capturing??? HELP!

    Hi there
I’m trying to capture some HDV tapes from a shoot I did. We shot the footage on a SONY HVR-Z1U and we shoot it in HDV1080i.
Now when I try and digitize it into the computer, as HDV 10801i60 it looks awful. And when I try and throw it in a sequence it looks compressed. I checked the info on the video clip and it says that the dimensions are 720X480 and the the codecs is DV/DVCPRO – NSTC, Integer (Little Endian), Timecode. (probably the reason it looks so poor)

I have used both the Z1U and a Sony HDV Deck to try and capture this material. I have used both of these devices in the past with great success.

How is it possible that the footage that looks good when viewing on the camera and shoot in 1080i all of the sudden become DV/DVCPRO – NSTC 720X480 after capturing???

    I’m working with a G5, Processor 2 X 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon. Memory: 4 GB 800 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM
    Final Cut Version 6.0.4

    Thanks!

I, too, am having the same problem. Shoot with a Z1U, load with a HVR-10MU, downconvert is off. I don’t even see the option in capture settings anything that says HDV. I’ve tried each of the 1080i options, and it doesn’t recognize the deck at all. Anyone else have this problem?
