  • Error copying files

I am trying to copy some clips from one drive to another (both external) on my iMac. These are XDCAM footage that I’m using in a FCP project. I get this error message when I try:

The Finder cannot complete the operation because some data in “filename” could not be read or written. (Error code -36)

Most of my files are copying properly. I’ve tried to see if the few that won’t copy are too big (they vary in size and larger files are copying fine) or have something else in common, but I can’t seem to find any pattern or reason for this error.

Has anyone else seen this – and how did you fix it?

    Thanks!
    Miriam

I’ve encountered this error message when some part of the footage is corrupted. You might be able export an uncompressed QT from your footage and use that.

    -good luck

It sounds like a file permission problem. Right click/get info on the files that won’t copy and make sure you have permission to read and write the file. If not, change it and try again….that’s all I’ve got…
