  Final Cut Studio 2 update, broken serial number

  I have owned Final Cut Studio 2 for some time now, and it’s worked flawlessly. I’ve downloaded updates for it as they come out but never had a problem until now.

  I recently downloaded a bunch of updates (iTunes, Front Row, and something for FCP). And ever since then, FCP will not open. Soundtrack Pro, Motion, all the others will open, but FCP is asking me for a serial number. I have repeatedly tried to enter the serial number I have on my box but it does not accept it.

  This really had to happen RIGHT when I needed FCP rather urgently. Gah!

  Try this, go to –

  Mac HD/Library/Application Support/ProApps and remove the final Final Cut Studio System ID (just put it on the desktop and then launch FCP set it the serial number will work.
