  • Problems with log and transfer on FCP

Hello, I need some help with a little problem. I have a Project shot in P2 with the HVX200 all the trnsfered media was erased because it was supposedly finished but the project needs some last minute adjustments. I have all the footage backed up in an external drive so I made a batch to retransfer the footage. Now the problem is that with some clips it tells me that those files were captured from a tape it closes Log and transfer and opens Log and capture and try to capture the media from a tape that doesn’t exist because everything came from P2 footage. Looks like my computer has gone crazy… If anyone has an idea on this I would appreciate it.

Batch Capture from P2 will open the BATCH CAPTURE window…this is normal. Just make sure the drive with the P2 is connected and it should find them…or ask where they are.

But when it opens the Log and Capture window it pops an error window because I don’t have a deck connected to capture the media and when I click ok it closes and that’s it. When I did the Batch for the rest of the footage it did it automatically from the Log and transfer window. I don’t understand why it won’t do it with these particular clips. Any ideas?

Which version of Final Cut are you using? You should be opening the Log and Transfer tool, or File->Import Panasonic P2 depending on your FCP version. Log and Capture is for tapes, so of course its expecting you to connect a deck if you use that particular tool.

GOt me. Hmmm…try them one at a time? If not, reimport and reconnect manually? Or did you have custome IN and and OUT points too?

I already tried one at the time and didn’t work and I do have custom in and out points(trying to save some disk space). I’ll keep trying anyway… If you come up with anything I would really appreciat it.

I’m using 6.0.4 and yes I’m using the Log and transfer tool but when I try to batch those particular clips it automatically closes Log and transfer and opens Log and Capture.

Do you have all the p2 cards from your project loaded in your Log and tranfer window?

Yes actually that’s the first thing I checked.

Wondering if you ever came up with a solution for this as I’m having the same problem.

FCP 6.0.5 and when I go to batch capture offline P2 media, it opens the Log and Capture window rather than Log and Transfer. First time I’ve ever seen this happen.

I vaguely remember his happening once. I think what I did was open the log and transfer window, loaded all the cards in there and added all the clips to the queue. I then reconnected to those new clips.
