Naming Convention for Television show
I have searched through the forums for a couple hours and cannot seem to find what I’m looking for. I have read read post related to naming conventions, but cannot seem to find them anymore. I am trying to come up with a naming convention that will improve our organization and workflow. We currently are producting three television programs for Network TV. Our current method of naming has worked because we were a small operation with only one show. We have almost tripled in size and added two new shows to our workload. We have added an XSAN with 60 TB of storage and are getting ready to add Final Cut Server to our toolbox.
Our shows are reality/documentary style programs. We have 10 – 20 tapes to log and capture for each episode. We are looking for some suggested naming convention and organizational structure for our growing work.
What are some of your suggestions? I appreciate your valuable input.

Yeah, in the DVD I go into all sorts of naming conventions to use, from Documentary to narrative. That and how to organize everything, including how to do it in a multi-editor XSAN environment.

All of us could… but that be like asking about our workflows. Its will vary between all of us. Each has their own way of doing things. Shane’s DVD explains in the amount of detail that you need to help with your projects.
The idea isn’t to just sell Shane’s DVD but to let you know that it has all of the info you need so that you can determine what workflow is going to work best for you.

Is this information available online or is only available via snail mail?

It is tough to give this out when trying to make a buck dispensing information it took years to accumulate. I give a bunch of stuff for free, but specific workflows…that comes at a cost. Many times I consulted with paid consultants who dispensed this information to me. So giving it out for free seems silly.
This doesn’t exist in an online tutorial.

I dont mind paying for professional advise and consultation. It would be nice to be able to access the information online, without having to wait 2 weeks to get it.
