  • Problems with deleting unwanted Media After Creating Subclips

Hi there, I have just used the media manager for the first time to try to reduce some space on my hard disc.

I had two large clips from the same tape. Out of these two large clips I made about fifteen subclips I then used the media manager to delete the unwanted media. Everything went fine. I ended up with 5 files and I saved about 1GB.

The two original files were called

    PW027-01 &
    PW027-02

    I have now got

    PW027-01
    PW027-02
    PW027-2
    PW027-3
    PW027-4

The problem was that the bottom three files were placed in a temporary folder on my external drive that I was using, under another folder called folders.501. The top two were in my scratch disc where they started

I don’t think I am doing anything wrong and the process worked fine it was just that the new (shorter) media files were not placed in the folder in my scratch disc that I was working with.

Why is this? do you think it is a bug? I am using FCP 6.04

If I had chosen to “base media file names on clip names” in the media section of the media manager as opposed to selecting “base media file names on EXISTING FILE NAMES” which is what I chose, do you think this would have made a difference?

I have just tried again and the same thing happened

The pathway of the resulting file is

G-RAID2(my external hard drive)/.TemporaryItems/folders.501/TemporaryItems/My newly created file

I found this thread on a google search

    https://www.2-popforums.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-90254.html

this may throw light on to the matter but I don’t really understand it. My computer did not crash

    Thanks in advance

    James
