  HD Cam to FCP 6

  Heeeeeelp! I need to do an offline edit of footage shot on Sony750 HDCAM and it’s being captured through a HDCAM deck. I’ll be editing on set of the shoot as we go along, so I’m trying to make sure I’m gonna have the right equipment with me as there is no margin for error.

  What I need to know is whether my PowerBook G4 with FCP 6 will be able to handle this edit?

  You’d best be planning on using a huge raid with six to eight drives, and even then your system will most likely drop frames.

  Very doable, just not with what you have. You will have a lot of stuff to invest in.

  -MacBook Pro
  -AJA I/O HD. Can capture as ProRes or some other offline codec, and recieve camera timecode. This will not work with your G4. I tried.
  -SATA Raid. You have an Express34 slot on your new MacBook Pro, use that to get an eSATA card, then get a 2 – 4 bay eSATA RAID. G-Tech G-SPEED, Caldigit S2VR Duo, Sonnet 400P…
