AFAIK, there is a free demo, you can create your own.
I’m a happy Cinemacraft user, although on Windows.
It is fast and good. (well, if you do a 10 pass it’s not that fast, but (depending on source and drive speed) up to 4 times RT per pass is fast enough for me.)Quality is awesome.

No free demo for Mac, that’s why I had to ask.
I can’t find any real live comparisons anywhere.

Google Cinemacraft, there was a free watermarked demo which only runs on Windows,
but if you read my post, you can encode using MacDrive, which allows Windows to read
QT files created on your Mac.
Try that, cheaper than the Compressor plug-in.Cheers

QT files created on your Mac. “Just to clarify. MacDrive allows Windows to read a Mac formatted drive. It doesn’t add additional QuickTime functionality to Windows, unless your files are on a Mac formatted drive.
