    Hello,

I’m very new to editing so here is my problem. I’d like to know the BEST Audio/Video settings to use for capturing video from my Canon XHA1. I’m shooting in HD, 24F, 1080i/480i. The footage is being shot for a short film my friends and I are making but I’m the only one who has any idea about FCP. We want the VERY BEST quality image in the end because we hope to eventually transfer to film. We’re using a G5 and running FCP 5.0.4. Please don’t suggest I upgrade or buy a converter box, etc. Can anyone please just tell me the BEST settings to use, consdering what I have? Thank you all.

Sorry but Im going to have to tell you you need to upgrade your software.

I do not believe that 24F HDV is supported by your version of FCP.

That’s fine but can you be a little more specific? Which version should I upgrade to? And once there, can you tell me the settings I should use?

[Robert Cluesman] “Which version should I upgrade to?”

Well seeing as Apple only sells FCP 6 in the FCS 2 package you will need to upgrade to that.

[Robert Cluesman] “And once there, can you tell me the settings I should use?”

I do not use that camera or that framerate, so I cannot say the exact setting.
