August 22, 2008 at 4:37 amRight. You need the Transfer Software. When installed FC will be able to work with the EX footage.
You don’t need the SxS Pro Drive.

August 22, 2008 at 7:45 amI’m pretty sure that wont work. The XDCAM Transfer software will give you access to the clip media but doesn’t include the codec. Support for the EX codec ships with FCP 6.0.2 and above.

August 22, 2008 at 9:16 amHi Andy,
I thought the same, but up to the doc, you just need FC 5.1.4As you say the support for the EX-1 is from FC 6 on, but it was already support for XDCAM since FC 5.1.4
Probably the Transfer software update the codecs too.Rafael

August 22, 2008 at 9:35 amNope. The codec support in FCP doesn’t belong to Sony it belongs to Apple (its part of their HDV codec bundle). Am pretty sure for EX codec support you need to have FCP 6.0.2 as noted in the doc you linked:
version 6.0.3 or higher is required for editing XDCAM EX and XDCAM HD422 clipsHey. I’ve been wrong before tho …

A cut is a cut & a dissolve is a disolve, and not just anybody with a system is a pro.

EX-1 & EX-3 footage are different from the rest of the XDCam family. The 330 & 350 cameras that use the original XDCam HD codec are anamorphic 1440X1080. The EX 1&3 are full raster 1920X1080. Now, I don’t know if FCP 5/1/4 is compatible with that or not, I no longer have it installed & can’t check, but I thought it’s worth pointing out.
