    If I’m not mistaken those are burst rates and not
    sustained rates, so sata and 4gb fibre channel will
    still be viable in the short term.

    USB 3.0 isn’t coming until 2010 so of course SATA and FC will still be viable for the near term. Regardless thought, USB, SATA, and FC are very different for reasons other than just bandwidth. SATA is for internal drive connections. FC can be switched and shared in a SAN. USB is neither of those things, although it could make eSATA irrelevant.
